	Themes:	Geology and Astronomy - January Dig this! We’ll journey inside Earth and scour its surface to learn about rocks, minerals, and landforms. Be a Jr. Geologist and examine YSI’s colossal collection of rocks. Spend time away from Earth and visit the vast regions of outer space. Explore planets, stars, and other celestial sensations! Physics and Engineering - February Let your inner Einstein loose! Experiment with matter, energy, forces, and more for some fabulous physics fun. This month we’ll have new engineering experiments and challenges so get ready to imagine, create, build, test, and discover. Biology - March It’s the study of living things – animals, plants, and more. Take an in-depth look at how they are built from head to toe, leaf to root, inside and on the outside. Bones, fur, flowers and other treasures from YSI’s vault will be our tools for hands-on fun. Meet some of YSI’s live animals up close. Ecology - April Holes in the ground. Nibbled leaves. Predators chasing prey. All clues to how plants and animals depend on each other and their environment – it’s all about relationships! That’s ecology. Explore, examine, and experiment outdoors and in the lab for this eco adventure.

Like YSI’s School and Group Programs, the Science in the Afternoon curricula complement California State Science Standards, which means YSI programs supplement and support what each child should be learning in science. Our After School Instructors and Aides give individual attention to each student within the group structure to ensure a fun and positive learning experience for all.
