Dear YSI Families:
YSI will be discontinuing its “Science in the Afternoon” program at Vasona Park beginning with the 2011-12 school year. The change is reflective of our broader efforts to deliver programs where they are needed most; we are therefore working incrementally to reach more children across Silicon Valley with after school programs delivered directly to school sites and community groups. It is our hope that young scientists and explorers, and their families, will be better served through our new delivery system.
If your school might be interested in YSI programs, either during the school day, after school, or both, please ask your school administrators to contact us directly at 408-356-4945 x12 so we can explore the possibilities. We would be delighted to bring science and nature to a classroom near you!
If you've been active with our After School programs at Vasona, we thank you for your past participation and we hope you will join us for one or more of our other enrichment programs, including our popular Science Safaris, which are held in the evenings and on weekends and are open to the whole family! Many are held at our Vasona site. Don’t forget our free community events, too — our Wildlife Festival on October 2 at Alum Rock Park in San José, and our Insect Fair on May 12, 2012, at Sanborn Park in Saratoga.
If you are a 2011 Family Member ($150 level or above), and have an unused After School program pass, please contact Laurie to receive a Science Safari pass in substitution: laurie@ysi-ca.org or 408-356-4945 x10. We apologize for the inconvenience.
