YSI's Science and Nature Center has been open to the public since 1980. Exhibits at Vasona Science and Nature Center feature live animals that live in the Guadalupe Watershed, and much more.
Adjacent to the classrooms is the Viola Anderson Native Plant Trail, which provides integrated information on plants native to Northern California. A wide variety of science camps and after-school science classes, along with many special educational programs are held all year.
YSI just completed a state-of-the-art expansion at Vasona which includes spacious classrooms and labs. The existing building has also undergone extensive remodeling to improve exhibits, teaching areas and supporting spaces. In addition to serving as an educational resource, the Vasona facility serves as the administrative headquarters for all of the Youth Science Institute.
